More People Arrested For DUI In Gallatin County

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

After a three-year decline, more people were arrested for drunk driving in Gallatin County last year.

In 2013, 776 people were arrested just in Gallatin County, up ten percent from the year before.

The Bozeman Police Department arrested the most drunk drivers putting 339 people behind bars.

Montana Highway Patrol's Bozeman district arrested 215 and the Gallatin County Sheriff's department arrested 124 drunk drivers.

"That translates clearly, in my opinion to lives saved, property damage prevented, good things," said Scott Swanson, Gallatin County DUI Task Force chairman. "Now we don't want to see people getting arrested for statistical purposes."

Swanson says for every DUI arrest, there are 80 drunk drivers not caught.
