KHQ.COM - Spokane Police are looking for a car thief who was chased down by an associate of the victim. On Thursday morning SPD says the thief stole a vehicle warming up unattended in the area of North Fiske and Indiana about 7:25 Thursday morning. SPD says an associate of the victim, believed to be the victim's son, then called 911 to report he was chasing down the suspect and that the associate had a gun.

SPD says there is no indication the car thief was armed. The pursuit carried on for several blocks to Regal and Upriver where the suspect crashed. Police say the suspect then took off on foot and went to an apartment where he called someone to pick him up. Authorities say he was picked up in a stolen vehicle. Both vehicles have been recovered.

The suspect, who's described as a white male between the ages of 18 and 24, remains on the loose. Spokane Police tell KHQ that have leads in the case.

SPD does not recommend chasing down any thief.
