Montana State Signs Deep, Talented Recruiting Class
MSU signed 23 guys in it's class. Head Coach Rob Ash says it's a diverse group.
"We felt like we had to get players from every position except quarterback if you notice on the list we did not take a quarterback this year. But every other position we thought we had to fill," said head coach Rob Ash.
Coach Ash likes two things about the this recruiting class.
"It's a deep and talented class. And my deep I mean we've got several guys across the board that I think will really be good players," said Ash.
The heart and soul of Montana State football will always come from the treasure state, but two states in particular will always help the bobcats.
"We sent three guys to Texas we sent two full time guys in California. Coach VonBergen was able to get one guy out of Oregon. Coach Mac got two guys out of Minnesota and Iowa. So every area where we sent a coach we got somebody but where we got the most coaches that's where we got the most players," said Coach Ash.
"It's a bigger population. it's expensive to fly here as you all know. So we got to go down and in two weeks time identify as many kids as you can and it worked out," said recruiting coordinator Bo Beck.
It's 2014, yet schools are still using a fax machine to bring in letters of intent. Coach Beck likes the old school feel.
"I think the fax machine will always be part of it. You just got to have a good one. It's kind of fun to see what roles thru cause you don't know who it is till you turn the paper, so it's exciting to see there's some drama in it," said Coach Beck.
