Record Number Of People Use Warming Center

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

A record number of people have been staying at the Bozeman Warming Center since temperatures started dipping below zero.

On Tuesday night, 33 guests stayed at the Warming Center, which is the largest number of people it has seen in it's four years of operation. The capacity is 40.

Since the center opened mid-November, 107 people have spent the night there. Sara Savage with the Human Resource Development Council said they were prepared for a bump in numbers because of the cold snap.

"We work with our staff and volunteers to plan for what it's like at the warming center when it's full," said Savage. "It's all about making sure people can get in and get out of the cold as quickly as possible."

The Warming Center is also looking for volunteers to help with laundry in the mornings. If you would like to volunteer, call the HRDC at 587-4486.
