Longfellow Elementary is nominated for a top national award recognizing high student performance.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau nominated Longfellow Elementary School for the 2014 National Blue Ribbon School Award.

Longfellow is nominated as an exemplary high performing school for scoring high in state assessments in reading and math for the last five years.

School officials said this nomination reflects more than just Longfellow Elementary.

"This is an affirmation not only for Longfellow school but for the high quality district that we are in Bozeman and all of the work our teachers do," said Randy Walthall, Longfellow Elementary principal.

Anaconda High School is also nominated for a 2014 Blue Ribbon Award.

Manhattan Elementary School was the only school in Montana to get the award in 2013.
