Montana Tech announced its purchase of a new building in downtown Billings that will now house the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology.

The bureau is a program ran by Montana Tech.

The new building will house nine professional staff members and a variety of students from M.S.U. Billings and Rocky Mountain College, who work with the bureau.

For the last 15 years, the Bureau of Mines and Geology office in Billings worked from the M.S.U. Billings campus, but they were forced to find a new home when the university needed the space.

Bureau employees will work to address geologic issues in eastern and central parts of the state.

It will also focus on energy development, agriculture, and ground water availability.

Tech says the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology expects to move into the new building by the end of March.
