Grizzlies Coyle, Kistler, and Tripp: Onto The Next Level

Posted: Updated:

Brock Coyle, Danny Kistler, and Jordan Tripp made history this year for the Montana Grizzlies, with all three of them being invited to the post-season all-star games.  For Kistler, he played in the East-West Shrine game, featuring some of the nations top collegiate seniors.

"It was a very unique experience, getting down there, all the tests they put you through, talking with NFL GMs, directors of scouting, scouts, and talking with all the great NFL coaches.  I had Romeo Crenel as my head coach, and a lot of great leadership and advice from those guys," says Kistler, an Offensive Lineman (Right Tackle).

Tripp was a participant in the Senior Bowl, one of the most prestigious all-star games…and like his teammates, saw plenty of positive feedback via twitter from national columnists, but says he doesn't put too much into the white noise.

"It's a cool deal for sure, but at the end of the day, you can't let that determine who you are, if they did say you weren't a process, it's not going to change how I attack my day or how I live," says Tripp, an outside linebacker.

One thing that many of the FCS prospects share, is having to prove to scouts and NFL personnel that they are just as talented as the players who competed in BCS level conferences.

"To be honest, I've always had a chip on my shoulder, throughout my entire career, and I think that's part of the reason I've been successful in my career, and through this whole experience, I absolutely need that, I'm going to need the extra drive and motivation that can maybe put me over someone else that I'm competing with," says Middle Linebacker Coyle.

That same chip, along with a strong work ethic, led to Tripp performing highly at the Senior Bowl.

"I felt I played the best football I've ever played, and it wasn't by accident, because I prepared to do that.  I was very happy with how it went, but I have to put that to rest.  We have the combine coming up, and I'm trying to prepare with the best of my ability, so I will perform my best there," says Tripp.

And all three credit their playing experience with the Griz.

"Ultimately Montana taught me to be a fierce competitor, and I think going against those players was a really awesome experience for me, and a good learning lesson on the things I need to work on, and it was good motivation too, because it re-affirmed in my mind that I can play with these guys, and I have a great career ahead of me if I just keep working," explains Kistler.

For Coyle, who participated in the NFLPA bowl game, and is training in Orlando Florida at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, he's just embracing the opportunity, "I know if I do all I can do really prepare myself for this opportunity then I can look back at it and say I gave it everything I could, and the rest will take care of itself."

The three, along with several other former teammates will return to Missoula sometime in March for their Pro Day.
