Local Churches Participate In Souper Bowl Of Caring

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

Churches across Montana and the nation took donations on Sunday for those in need.

Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bozeman was one of many to participate in the annual Souper Bowl of Caring.

The movement started in 1990 and encourages youth to care for people in their local communities who are hungry.

About 2,000 groups are participating nationwide this year. In total they collected more than $3.5 million this year alone.

"It feels great to give because we are part of a whole community that should give and take care of our people," said Ron Hanson, Christ the King Lutheran church member.

Each group decides which organizations in their community will benefit from their collections.
