Entrepreneurship Creates High-Paying Jobs in Montana

Economy experts and business leaders met in Missoula to learn how entrepreneurship creates high-paying jobs.

The 39th Annual Economic Outlook Seminar highlighted the success of RightNow Technologies.

Founders of the company was founded in a spare bedroom in Bozeman in 1997.

Over the next 15 years, it grew to be Bozeman's largest commercial employer with an average salary of $87,000 per year.

Greg Gianforte, of RightNow Technologies, Inc., said, "Primarily because the Internet has removed geography as a constraint, and it use dot be that Montana was too far away from markets, but with an Internet business, we can be anywhere."

In 2012, Oracle bought RightNow Technologies for $1.8 billion dollars.

Speakers at the seminar also highlighted the latest economic trends.

They provided outlooks for Montana's important business sectors, including energy, nonresident travel, health care, agriculture, and forest products.
