Daines Puts Out Public Lands Access Bill

Representative Steve Daines is trying to make public lands more accessible.

He introduced the Making Public Lands Public Access Act.

This aims to use money from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LCWF) to help encourage Montanans to recreate on public lands.

The bill asks the Departments of Agriculture and the Interior to use at least 1.5% of the LWCF each year to improve access to existing public lands.

Ideally, the bill will jumpstart projects like easements and rights of way coordinated with willing sellers.
