Butte Pastor Gives 1 Minute Service to Watch Football

BUTTE -

A Butte pastor is gaining national recognition for giving what some are calling the shortest worship service ever, and he did it to go home and watch his favorite team.

"There's some bread and some wine up here on the table," said Pastor Tim Christensen. "You're free to help yourself. Let's see, go to peace and love to serve the lord. Kiss and I'm out of here."

Pastor Tim Christensen is willing to do almost anything to watch his San Francisco 49ers, even if that means cutting his worship ceremony short.

"My dad was a season ticket holder," said Pastor Tim. "We moved into San Francisco from rural northern California when I was 12. In '72 we went to a game, and I've been 49ers faithful ever since."

Pastor Tim's service Sunday morning was all of one minute long.

The 49ers were about to play the Carolina Panthers in the N.F.L. playoffs and the pastor needed to get in front of a TV.

"I'm still feeling rather horse," he said. "I was cheering for my 9ers. So my voice is kind of shot today."

The pastor's minute speech featured the Colin Kaepernick biceps kiss and a flash of his favorite colors.

The video, shot by his son, has now gone viral.

"I've never been a part of anything like this before," said Christensen. "I probably will never be again. For a few moments there is an awful lot of national media attention. It's fun."

After his quick service, Pastor Tim did come back and conduct the entire worship ceremony.

He was able to record the game and see the 49ers win.
