Runners Are Gearing Up For Missoula Marathon

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

The first of the year has passed, and runners are starting to gear up for the Missoula Marathon.

If you're interested in running the marathon, Run Wild Missoula is encouraging you to sign up by January 30, because after the 30th the registration fee is going up. Run Wild Missoula is also informing runners about a registration party at Big Sky Brewery next week. There, Olympic runner Jeff Galloway will speak to get runners motivated for the marathon.

A series of training classes will also kick off next week, because Run Wild Missoula said now is the time to start training.

"Anywhere from 18 to 28 weeks usually people can get to the finish line. Sometimes people doing a half marathon, they might train for three or four weeks, but ideally you have four to six months to start that slow build up," said Missoula Marathon Director Anders Brookers.

The registration party takes place next Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A time improvement and fat burning class are set for the following Tuesday, while a three-hour running school will take place Wednesday. For more information head to Run Wild Missoula.
