Nonprofits In The Flathead Share Concerns

Posted: Updated:
KALISPELL -

Nonprofits across the Flathead got together on Thursday, January 9 to share ideas and tackle their shared problems.

This town hall style meeting is an annual event. The Nonprofit Development Partnership has put it on since 2009.

The director of the Montana Nonprofit Association, Liz Moore, was the keynote speaker.

She brought national issues like sequestration and healthcare reform to the local level and explained how they can rattle a nonprofit.

She says she is impressed by the Flathead's far reaching network of nonprofits and community members that has helped 501(c)(3) groups flourish.

"The Nonprofit Development Partnership and the community buy in for developing the capacity of nonprofits to do their work-- that's unusual," said Moore.

Moore is also in town to take the temperature of nonprofits in the Valley; to see what problems they face and what changes can be made.
