Manhattan Receives Grant for Water System Upgrade

Posted: Updated:
MANHATTAN -

The town of Manhattan receives some help as it tries to keep residents safe from fires.

The Treasure State Endowment Program grant, along with other state and federal funds, will be used to construct a new water storage tank and extend connecting distribution lines.

Currently, the town's water system shortages cause inadequate fire flows, low system pressure and lack of fire protection.

TSEP grants are funded by taxes on coal to deal with critical public health and safety needs.
