Neighbors Share Thoughts on Alleged Murder-Suicide Near Darby

Posted: Updated:
DARBY -

Ravalli County Sheriff's officials continue their investigation into what appeared to be a murder-suicide northwest of Darby.

Locals said the shooting happened on Monday at a house on Lake Como Road.

Residents who live along Lake Como Road said they were shocked yesterday afternoon to learn Sheriff's officials were investigating a possible murder suicide in their neighborhood.

Bill Kyle and his wife Donna have lived on their ranch just off Lake Como Road since 1934.

"This is a pretty quiet area for things like this. It is unusual to have a homicide of any kind," Kyle said.

On Monday, Ravalli County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home off Lake Como Road on a report of a person who appeared to have been shot to death.

When they arrived, they found two people dead at the scene.

"Well, it was kind of alarming, you know, we could see all the activity up there," he said.

Kyle said his son saw sheriff's officials taping off the area around the house on the north side of the road, just a few miles west of Highway 93.

"He was interested because one of our neighbors has a heart condition and we were concerned about that."

Kyle said he and Donna met a man who lived at the house over the summer, but they're unsure if he was involved in the alleged shooting.

"When people move into the area, you just don't know what to expect," he added.

Sheriff's officials said they'll release more details of their investigation once they've notified the families of the deceased.
