Butte Suspect in "Serious Condition" After Oregon Standoff

A man wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Butte is in serious condition after a run-in with Oregon State Police.

Lieutenant Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police said Dale Edward Wallace pointed a gun at officers Friday night before being struck by a marked patrol car. The driver of that car, 26-year-old Trooper Adam Kowing, is on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.

While in the hospital, Wallace is in police custody on a felony warrant in connection with an armed robbery at Butte's Coins n Cards. District attorneys in Oregon say they are also considering charges.

An autopsy on Sara Jo Johnson, Wallace's alleged female accomplice, shows she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a long standoff with officers.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Newport Oregon Police Department at 541-270-1856.
