Missoula Police Detectives discover the man who reported he'd been injured in a drive-by shooting, made a false police report.

Police found the firearm used in the incident on the man's property during an investigation.

Michael T. Burnett, 50, is being charged with false reports to law enforcement, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in city limits.

Detectives learned no one else involved in the incident and there's no ongoing risk to public safety.

Missoula Police are on the lookout for suspects who allegedly shot a man in the leg with a shotgun.

Police said they responded to a 9-1-1 call around 4 a.m. Monday on the 1500 block of Cooley Street.

When they arrived on the scene, investigators said they found a 50-year-old man with a shotgun wound to his knee.

He was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the man told them he was standing outside his home, when the suspects drove by his house and shot him.

Investigators said the vehicle was a light-colored, possibly white, car that resembled a Gran Torino that had fancy rims on its wheels.

If you have any information on this incident, call police at 552-6300.
