One Dead, Two Injured in Fatal Crash Near Fairmont

BUTTE -

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, one person is dead and two others injured after a one vehicle rollover accident occurred Friday morning near Fairmont.

Highway Patrol officials say a 19-year-old male from Deer Lodge, sitting in the front passenger seat died at the scene.

The driver, an 18-year-old female from Butte, was severely injured and was life flighted to Great Falls. Her injuries are life-threatening.

The third passenger, who sat in the back seat, was treated for injuries at St. James Hospital.

The accident occurred eastbound on Interstate 90.

M.H.P. says the driver drifted onto the rumble strip, and over corrected sending the vehicle rolling multiple times.

The car stopped on top of a fence, off the interstate.

The back seat passenger was the only one not wearing a seatbelt.

Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation.
