Glacier Park Inc Is Staying In The Crown Of The Continent

Posted: Updated:
WEST GLACIER -

Glacier Park Inc will still be in Glacier National Park, even though in August it lost the park services contract that it held for about thirty years.

A GPI spokesman, Daniel Hansen, says the company will continue to operate at a little more than half the size they were before losing the contract.

Even without the contract, GPI still owns lodges in the Park.

You can still see GPI in the Park at several places like the Hotel Lake McDonald, the Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier, and the St. Mary Lodge and Resort.

"We won't be operating at quite as many locations in the Park as we were before. It's definitely reduced the size of our total operations," said Hansen.

Though there may be some permanent layoffs, Hansen says the majority of GPI's employees are seasonal, and will not be hired back for the summer tourist season.
