It's not like non conference games don't matter, but coaches and players put a lot of emphasis on teams they see year after year. The lady cats can take away a few things from their nine games out of the Big Sky.
"I think we've learned we've got a lot of perseverance we've got a lot of toughness in this group. This group is never going to give up we're a great second half team," said head coach Tricia Binford.
MSU implemented a dribble drive offense at the start of the year. Has it worked?
"We're finding out some things we need to do when we're not in the flow of dribble drive and at times we are and that's great and at times we lose it we just need to get in a set," said senior forward Ashley Brumwell.
The lady cats play at Sacramento State tomorrow night. So Coach Binford did a few things differently when her team returned from break.
"When they came back and we did 40 minutes of running clock of trapping everywhere and we talked about how tiring and taxing it was then they asked can we do that again tomorrow I think that's a good sign for our team," said Coach Binford.
"I love playing sac state really fun brand of basketball up and down you definitely find out how good a shape you're in when you play Sac St but they press for 40 minutes," said Brumwell.
The team loves eating from the west coast burger chain, IN N OUT BURGER. You can bet they'll get some before leaving California.
"Definitely. And I'm always in Coach Starr's van so it's always a must stop," said Brumwell.
"Does In n Out Burger exist in Sacramento? it does. I checked, Really? Well then I'm sure we'll be there after the game I imagine. Coach Starr's van anyway," said Binford.
