Several brave souls started the new year in their skivvies and swimsuits on Flathead Lake.
At 2:00 p.m. more than a hundred people came out to the Raven bar in Woods Bay for the twentieth annual Polar Bear Plunge.
Kayaks and a diver waited just feet from the shore in case anyone had trouble making it back to land.
Most people hopped in and out of the freezing water in a matter of seconds.
"Every year people are figuring out how much fun it is to go jump in the water," said Darrek Frost, one of the swimmers.
Swimmers were able to stock up on energy at the chili feed that began at 11:00 a.m., and then warm up afterward in the bar.
