Seeley Lake Fire Chief Resigns After Fourteen Years

Posted: Updated:
SEELEY LAKE -

After 14 years with the Seeley Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Frank Maradeo stepped down as chief.

Chief Frank Maradeo turned in his resignation less than a month ago, and Monday was the first opportunity Seeley Lake volunteer fire fighters got to bring their concerns to the table with the fire board of trustees.

Some of those concerns are about how quickly a new chief will be found to fill Maradeo's shoes.

The board voted Assistant Fire Chief Randy Reinitz to act as interim fire chief until a new one is found.

While some of his crew say they believe Maradeo was pressured by board members to step down, the veteran chief says he's simply burned out.

"I tell people it's kind of like dog years, one year equals seven," Maradeo said.

"And for a fire chief of a firefighter, 14 years is a long time to be doing this and it's just burn out."

Maradeo's last official day is Tuesday but he agreed to stay on to help find his replacement.
