Avalanche Danger Lowered

Posted: Updated:

The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center is lowering the risk of a slide in the Bridger and northern Gallatin Ranges.

The avalanche center rated these areas a high risk of avalanches and placed a backcountry avalanche warning earlier this week.

Friday they lowered the threat of a slide to "considerable."

Last week three people were swept by avalanches in the Bridger Range near Bridger Bowl.

The avalanche center says there is still an unstable layer of snowpack and the warmer temperatures aren't helping.

Avalanche experts say if you are skiing in the backcountry, make sure you have a partner and the proper equipment.
