Luminaries Raise Hundreds For Scholarship Fund

Posted: Updated:
EVERGREEN -

To remember her husband who died in 2009, Patsy Treat bought the last luminary, the ninety-second, at the Evergreen Fire Department on December 24.

This year, The Fire Department raised nearly $500 in scholarship funds.

Even though the luminaries were five bucks a piece, some people decided to give more.

Patsy has lived in Evergreen for more than six decades and remembers seeing the luminaries with her husband.

"The people that started the whole luminary deal, it's because they were close together as neighbors and it seems like it grew and grew and grew," said Patsy.

The lights will be glowing all through the night and into Christmas day.
