Avalanche Warning Continued

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center continued their Backcountry Avalanche Warning for the Bridger and northern Gallatin Ranges surrounding Bozeman.

They extended the warning because of additional snowfall yesterday, bringing total accumulation of the past several days to more than 30 inches of snow.

The avalanche center says the snow fell on already unstable snowpack.

Three people were swept in two separate avalanches in the Bridger Range in the past week.

Avalanche experts say if you are skiing in the backcountry, make sure you have a partner and the proper equipment.

The center will update or cancel their warning tomorrow morning.
