New Guide Helps Montanans Prepare For Wildfires

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

Fire officials say it's never too early to get prepared for the next wildfire season. The Montana DNRC recently sent out a guide to fire stations around the state.

A general guide for preventing fires anywhere in the nation has been distributed for years, but the DNRC worked to get one made specifically for Montana. The guide offers tips on how to prevent wildfires from reaching your home, and also helps you come up with a strategy in the event your home is hit by a wildfire.

"It's important to prepare their action guide ahead of time, so they know if a wildfire does occur, they have a safe way to evacuate their to-go kit with their personal belongings and this they need is ready, and they can evacuate safely,"said Crystal Beckman with the Montana DNRC.

The DNRC is distributing as many guides as they can. Visit Ready Set Go! online.
