Butte Drinking Ordinance Goes Into Effect

Drinking in public Butte between the hours of 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. is now banned.

Butte-Silver Bow County police will increase patrols and warn the local watering holes about the new ordinance that was approved last month by county commissioners.

Undersheriff George Skuletich says for the next two weeks officers will hand out written warnings to people drinking in public areas after 2 a.m.

After that the citations will cost anywhere from $100 to $500.
