Survey Leads To Changes For Flathead's IB Program

KALISPELL -

The International Baccalaureate program at Flathead High School, the first in the state, is making some changes.

The IB program, found in more than 100 countries, is a tough high school curriculum that can lead to college credit.

This fall, the school sent out a survey on Facebook to past graduates who took IB classes to get their take on how the classes prepared them for the real world.

The feedback has led the school to offer a new IB class next year: Information Technology in a Global Society.

"Students who are currently pursuing engineering though the program was a little bit weak in that area," said Megan Couser, the IB coordinator.

Some alumni also asked the school talk up the IB program to colleges, to raise awareness and make college credit more accessible.

About half of the students at Flathead High School who could take an IB course are doing so.
