Belgrade Girls Basketball Ready for Division Schedule

Posted: Updated:
One of the toughest things in sports is to sacrifice their personal goals, for the team goal. The Belgrade girls basketball team has done just that.

"The attitude again and the effort our players we have positive attitudes we're willing to work for each other and the greater good of the group," says head coach Shanna Smith.

"A lot of days after practice we're here shooting free throws and we're doing it because we want to not because we have to," says junior guard Alexis Clingingsmith.

Now the past week and a half, Belgrade played tough competition against Butte and Bozeman. But they learned something from each of those experiences.

"Against Bozeman we didn't box out as well as we normally do so we picked up in Butte and we out rebounded Butte so it's just small adjustments," said Clingingsmith.

"We definitely learned a lot from those teams and ourselves. With Butte we had a lot of pressure and Bozeman we had amazing inside players so yeah we learned a lot about ourselves and what we need to be as a team to compete in our conference," said senior forward Tanna Holliday.

Every team's goal is to make it to state. And Belgrade has a great opportunity with the divisional tournament at the Special Events Center.

"Having divisionals on our home court this year I think there's added desire in our hearts to get that win and win that divisional championship and go to state my senior year would be amazing," said Holliday.
