Bozeman Ice Climbing Festival Begins

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

Three-thousand people from across the globe will gather in Bozeman this week for the 17th annual Ice Climbing Festival.

Over 30 professional climbers will compete by climbing up a 42-foot tower. Organizers say the tower is similar to one found at a rock climbing gym.

Festival Director, Joe Josephson said it's great to see how much the festival has grown over the years.

"It's awesome to see the ice climbers faces and how the festival has changed their lives," said Josephson.

All proceeds from the competition go directly to the Friends of Hyalite to help plow the roads up Hyalite Canyon.

Ice climbing clinics begin on Thursday morning. The tower competition begins Saturday.
