Attorneys, Witnesses Recount Graham's False Story

Jurors were sworn in, witnesses were called and attorneys presented their opening statements in day one of the Jordan Graham Trial.

Attorneys wasted no time trying to prove Graham's guilt or innocence as Judge Donald Molloy says the murder trial should be over by Friday.

After 14 jurors were sworn in, U.S. District Attorney Kris McLean recounted the events leading up to and following the death of Graham's husband, 25-year-old Cody Johnson, on July 7, saying evidence presented over the next few days will convince them Graham planned his death.

Graham's Defense Attorney Andy Nelson countered this claim in his opening statement saying Johnson's death was a tragic accident Graham was too naive and scared to deal with.

Following the statements, prosecutors called the first witnesses, friends of Johnson and then Graham's matron-of-honor, who described Johnson's disappearance and the false story Graham told them explaining it.

After Johnsons death, Graham told family, friends and law enforcement Johnson disappeared with unknown friends.

Prosecutors say this false story was part of her plot, while defense attorneys say it was the nervous reaction of a scared and naive girl.

Court will resume Tuesday morning in Missoula with the cross examination of more witnesses.
