Prosecutors Say Graham Trial Will Last One Week

Posted: Updated:

Attorneys filed their trial briefs as the trial of a 22-year-old newlywed accused of pushing her husband off a cliff is set to begin on Monday.

In the prosecutors' trial brief, U.S. District Attorney Zeno Baucus says he expects Jordan Graham's trial to last five to eight business days.

In this time, Baucus says he will call approximately 39 witnesses to the stand and introduce about 100 pieces of evidence.

Some of the witnesses's: FBI agents, forensic specialists, friends, family and members of the Faith Baptist Church where Graham and her 25-year-old husband Cody Johnson were deeply involved.

The trial brief filed by Graham's defense team led by Michael Donahoe interestingly reveals more details about Graham's personality, the couple's relationship and the rumors that quickly started circulating when Johnson initially disappeared on July 7.

In the document, witnesses describe Graham as, "Naive, immature, socially inept, shy, quiet and unable to relate well to adults. She is deeply religious... and lived at home with her parents until the night of her wedding."

Conversely, Johnson was described as, "A great person. He did not attend church, liked to race cars, drink beer, play softball and hang out with friends, both male and female."

"Witnesses will testify Cody changed for Jordan. He began attending church and stopped most of his drinking. He didn't hang out as much with his friends because Jordan didn't want to associate with them. In turn, they didn't like Jordan."

"Several of Cody's friends will testify they told Cody not to marry Jordan."

Although Graham and Johnson regularly attended Faith Baptist Church and were deeply involved in the church community, some of the church members are expected to testify they also told Johnson not to marry Graham.

Graham's trial is set to begin on Monday.
