Belgrade Wrestling Poised for a Great Season

Posted: Updated:
Belgrade wrestling has something to prove. After a third place finish at state last year, the panthers have high goals this season.

"Everybody counts us out because we graduated quite a few seniors last year. but this year we don't have big numbers in the wrestling room but what we do have is dedicated hard working kids that are willing to do whatever it takes," said Belgrade Head Coach Randy Schram.

"I'm pumped for this year it's my senior year the kids we have there aren't that many but the kids we have our studs and I feel like we have a really solid team this year," said senior Keevan Pickle.

"This team is going to be good this year we've been working hard we have some good elite kids. We may not have the big number but we're going to be good this year," said senior Noah Criner.

The Panthers have quality wrestlers this year. What they're missing is quantity, which might be a factor come tournament time.

"What it brings is a lack of depth as we go into tournaments. as we go into dual matches and we go into the final leg of the season. you know divisional's and state that lack of depth can really hurt you," said Schram.

Even though coach Schram doesn't have the numbers, it might actually be a good thing.

"The coaching staff gets to spend more time one on one with individuals, which I think builds a higher quality wrestler and number two it comes down to attitude. We have fewer kids in the room but the kids that are here are 100 percent focused. SO we're not busy trying to keep the guys focused," said Schram.
