Bozeman Defeats Missoula in Food Drive Competition

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

For the 14th year in a row, Bozeman wins the annual food drive competition with Missoula in conjunction with the Cat-Griz football game.

Every year, the two cities compete in the food drive in the weeks preceding the game, and all proceeds benefit their respective food banks.

This year, the Griz defeated the Bobcats on the field, but the Bozeman food bank hauled in about 44,000 pounds more food than the Missoula Food Bank.

Bozeman residents donated about 101,000 pounds of food this year, while Missoulians donated about 56,000 pounds.

However, Missoula Food Bank received about $61,000 in cash donations, trumping Bozeman's $47,000.

Officials at both food banks say they were overwhelmed by the generosity of both communities this year.
