Montana Teachers Vie for $2,500 Grants

MISSOULA -

Ten Montana teachers will receive $2,500 grants from Farmers Insurance, as part of the "Thank Montana Teachers" program.

Hundreds of teachers from across the state have submitted proposals in hopes of winning a grant.

Now, it's up to each teacher's community to vote for them to win.

Jennie Belcourt, a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Target Range School in Missoula, says she's in her first year of teaching.

Belcourt says she'd use the grant money to buy books for her classroom, which she currently has to check out from the county library.

According to Belcourt, "I mean, it would be outstanding, it would be wonderful, the kids are really excited for us to have a chance to win this because there are a lot of things we would like to be able to do with it."
