Crime Tracker: Missing Children: How To Prepare

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM - A missing child: it's something no parent ever wants to think about.  However, thinking about it now could save you precious time in the event your child ever does go missing. Operation Family I.D. provides parents with a packet of identification information for each of their children. It includes crucial information essential in helping find and identify your child.

Passing along information about your child and giving their description seems like a simple task, but recalling that information under high stress and in times of panic is more difficult than one might assume. Operation Family I.D. therefore recommends having the following information about your child written down and available:

1) Child's name, address, and birth date.

2) Physical description

3) Fingerprints

4) Updated Photograph

Keep in mind that information regarding your child's height and weight and their picture need to be updated regularly, since children grow and change rapidly.

Spokane C.O.P.S. and S.C.O.P.E. often offer the identification packets for free. The policing volunteers even take children's fingerprints and put their picture onto CD.  Click here to find out how to get a packet for your child: http://www.scopespokanewa.org/Operation_Family_ID.html

JACKSON, Mississippi - A neighborhood in Jackson, Mississippi isn't letting a few potholes dull their holiday spirit.  To fix the dilemma, they added a Christmas tree to cover the problem. The holiday timber was placed on top of the sinkhole along Poplar Boulevard.  Residents say they did this because the city went weeks without repairing the street.
