A Missoula man is being held on a $100,000 bail for allegedly trying to assault several sheriff deputies when they tried to arrest him for driving under the influence.

Stephen Farley appeared in court on Tuesday on one charge of assault on a peace officer, and one count of driving while under the influence.

Court documents show on Saturday, Farley was pulled over for speeding on Highway 10 West. Deputies said they initiated a sobriety test on Farley after he threw a marijuana pipe and attempted to throw a rum bottle out of the window.

Court documents show the deputy called for back up when he found out Farley had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. When deputies tried to place Farley in handcuffs he became aggressive and tried to grab their guns, before kicking one of the deputies in the leg.

Farley will be back in court on November 26.
