Butte Celebrates Veterans Day

Posted: Updated:
BUTTE -

Hundreds of folks in Butte celebrated Monday's holiday with their annual Veterans Day ceremony and fun-run.

Butte residents and a large group of vets took part in the ceremony at Stodden Park.

The Mining City's Veterans of Foreign Wars hosted the event.

They say Monday is an opportunity to honor those who have given their lives for the United States.

"We honor our veterans so we don't forget," said Walter Vincent, a Vietnam War veteran. "If we forget our veterans, then we forget our nation. I think it's real important that we support our veterans and keep our heritage alive."

Along with the ceremony was a fun-run through Butte to honor current service men and women.
