KALISPELL -

A Kalispell man, accused of causing a double-fatal car crash last month, pleaded not guilty to two felony charges in Flathead County District Court on Thursday.

Joseph Powell, 46, is charged with two counts of negligent vehicular homicide while under the influence.

The Montana Highway Patrol said Powell was driving his Jeep Cherokee north on Highway 93 near Kalispell on October 17 when it crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a pick-up truck head-on.

The crash killed the driver of the pick-up, 43-year-old Brian Delaney, along with the passenger in Powell's jeep, 43-year-old Patrick Moulton.

Powell suffered a dislocated hip and a broken arm due to the collision.

Powell will appear in court next on March 5, 2014.
