Man Receives 5-Year Prison Sent. for Role in Robbery, Assault

MISSOULA -

A Missoula man is sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement in a robbery and baseball attack on a store clerk.

District Court Judge Ed McLean sentenced 19-year-old Devon Kamaka to 10 years in prison, with five suspended as part of a plea agreement.

Kamaka was one of six men accused of entering Jay's Mart and beating the store's clerk, Patrick Bendig, with aluminum baseball bats before robbing the store.

Judge McLean said Bendig now has a titanium plate in his fractured skull and still cannot return to work.

Three of Kamaka's co-defendants are serving prison sentences or probation time, and one will be sentenced in December.
