Last night, the Lady Griz started the year off as they try to defend their Big Sky Conference crown, and after losing 4 key players to graduation, things were a little rocky to start off.
The Lady Griz hosted MSU-Billings, and were given all they could handle, as the Yellowjackets had the lead for the majority of the first half, with the Griz coming out on top by just four points when all was said and done. But it was anything but a disappointing game for long-time coach Robin Selvig, in fact, he's glad the game with MSU-B was such a close one.
"When you go to practice now, you play someone else, and say 'we got out rebounded by 10, and we're not blocking out and things like that, it gets their attention. It's always fun to win a tight one, I did get all 13 kids in which is kind of hard to do, and not fair to them in a way because they don't play very long and it's hard to play well, when you only play 3-4 minutes, but it turned out to be a great exhibition game for us," says Selvig.
