City Extends Contract For More Chemical Testing In Subdivision

Posted: Updated:
BOZEMAN -

On Monday, the Bozeman City Manager is expected to sign a contract with Tetra Tech to continue work in the third phase of the Bridger Creek subdivision after volatile organic compounds were found in some homes.

Throughout the summer, all homes in that subdivision were tested for VOC's after chemicals from a nearby landfill leaked. 25 of those homes came back positive for high levels of chemicals.

So far, indoor sampling, slub sample work and designing and installing of soil gas mitigation systems has begun.

"I think it's been constructive and things have been working well together. I think there are certainly different levels of frustration of the whole thing, but Tetra Tech are out there working almost every day," said Chris Kukulski, Bozeman City Manager.

The cost of the contract is $547,828. A public meeting to discuss the next steps in the testing progress is scheduled for November 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.
