On Monday night, Bozeman City Commissioners will decide if $600,000 from the Trails, Open Space and Parks bond should be used to build a new trail by the "M."
The new trail would connect Story Mill Road to the trailheads at Drinking Horse mountain and the "M."
The 2.1 mile trail system is estimated to cost almost $4 million. Over $3 million of that has already been funded by the Federal Lands Access Program
Parks and Recreation Director, Mitch Overton said a trail is really needed because Bridger Canyon is very dangerous for recreationists to use.
"It's extremely narrow in there. There are guard rails close to the trail heads there that squeeze the road down to essentially no shoulder at all," said Overton.
The $15 million Trails, Open Space and Parks bond was passed by voters last November.
