Safe Space Names "Officer of the Year"

BUTTE -

Safe Space in Butte named its new "Officer of the Year" during the 17th annual award ceremony.

Ryan Fallang is taking home the award this time around for his outstanding service to victims of domestic violence.

Safe space, a domestic violence and sexual assault prevention program, names a Butte officer every year to the award.

The award is based off the officer's awareness of domestic violence, helping the victims stay safe, and encouraging the utilization of Safe Space for help.

"A lot of times you don't realize how much you've helped somebody and you find out about it later," Fallang said. "I really appreciate it. It's nice to know I've helped somebody out of a bad situation, and made a positive impact on their life."

Safe Space awards the "Officer of the Year" award to a member of the law enforcement department every year.

This is the first time Officer Fallang has won the award.
