Montana Basketball Kicks off Season with Scrimmage

Posted: Updated:

While we're in the heat of the football season the Griz basketball pre-season is underway with the annual Maroon and silver scrimmage.

Some new faces making an impact in the game, forward Chris Kemp, who led the silver team with 16 points, he also had 7 rebounds while not missing a shot from the field.

Kareem Jamar doing what a reigning MVP does by chipping in eighteen points while former Corvallis star Riley Bradshaw had eight points.

The maroon team won 59 to 53 and coach Wayne Tinkle talked about his new forward Chris Kemp after the scrimmage.

"I thought Chris played well offensively, I think we'll see, defensively he needs to be a little better.  He didn't rebound the ball as well as he normally does, he had 17 rebounds in our scrimmage on Saturday, but he's going to be a force for us, and it's going to be a good combination playing him at the 4, mike at the 4, and they'll compliment each other well," says Tinkle.

The Lady Griz followed the men and even more new faces on this years squad but still some familiar ones,

Carly Selvig had a lot of action down low and she'll try and fill the scoring void left by Katie Baker in the post.

True freshman Alicia Sims from Stevensville with a nice scrimmage showing she can add some depth in the front court as well.
