Clark Fork Coalition Holds First Fall River Cleanup

Posted: Updated:

Volunteers hit the Clark Fork River on Tuesday to pick up all the trash that built up over the summer. The Clark Fork Coalition partnered with the Poverello Center to hold the first-ever Fall River Cleanup.

By the end of the day, dozens of bags of trash were piled up along the Madison St. pedestrian bridge. Members of the Clark Fork Coalition said the end of a busy recreation season is the perfect time of year for a river cleanup.

"We're seeing a lot of folks out enjoying the rivers throughout the summer, spending time on the river trail, and there's some associated impacts with that, and there's been an increase in trash being found in the river, and along the river banks," said Jill Alban, Outreach Director for the Clark Fork River.

This is the second river cleanup the Clark Fork Coalition hosted this year. The first was its annual Spring Cleanup in May.
