Woman Sentenced to 30 Years For Backing Over Officer

Posted: Updated:

A woman accused of backing her car over a Missoula police officer last winter, will spend 30 years in prison.

Dawnette Eaton was sentenced in Missoula District Court this afternoon.

In September Eaton pleaded guilty to failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving injury. She also pleaded no contest to assault with a weapon, the vehicle in this case, because she was under the influence and can't remember the incident.

Eaton is accused of backing her car over MPD officer Deni Poling back in January when Poling attempted to question her.

Poling suffered major injuries from the incident.

Both Poling and Eaton's daughter took the witness stand today.

Poling expressed that she wished Eaton would spend at least half her sentence in prison before being eligible for parole.
