A Polson woman accused of stabbing her mother in the back multiple times pleads not guilty
According to court documents, 34-year-old Emilie Yellowowl appeared in court October 18 to face a charge of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
Records say Yellowowl told Polson police she stabbed her mother because her mother did not protect her from an assault the night before.
However, Lake county prosecutors say that assault never happened and Yellowowl had been off medication used to treat mental illness.
Court records say Yellowowl pleaded guilty to stabbing two other people with a kitchen knife in 2004.
She was committed to the Montana state hospital and released to her mother in 2008.
