Lessons Learned Scavenging

KALISPELL -

A community scavenger hunt is on the lesson plan this Saturday, October 19 at Flathead Valley Community College.

It is called geocaching--participants use navigational tools like a GPS and compass to locate tools and trinkets.

Second year students in the natural resources conservation and management program planned the event from start to clean-up, and first-years will help coordinate the logistics the day of.

Seventy participants will search through either an advanced course (with a new Garmin GPS as the top prize) as well as an easy course.

The simpler course is for families and children under twelve, offering small prizes with each clue.

"It's a different way to teach class, and so I decided with this class to let's try something. I've never done this before," said Christina Relyea, the course instructor at FVCC.

The hunt begins at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Arts and Technology building.
