A 46-year-old Kalispell man involved in a double-fatal car accident Thursday night, has been taken into custody by the Flathead County Sheriff's Department.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Ed Sievers says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, where a northbound Jeep Cherokee crossed in the southbound lane of Hwy 93 near Kalispell and struck a pickup truck head on.
The driver of the truck, 43-year-old Brian Delaney of Kalispell and the 43-year-old passenger of the Jeep were both killed.
The victims names have not yet been released.
Montana Department of Transportation officials say US Hwy 93 will be closed at mile marker 107.5 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday as law enforcement investigates the accident scene
Traffic control and detours will be in place. Travelers should proceed as directed and should expect reduced speeds and very short delays.
Officials ask motorists to please watch for workers or equipment on or near the roadway and use extreme caution in the area.
